Charles Shankman

Deceased Classmate: Charles Shankman
Date Deceased: 11-25-09
Age at Death: 42
Cause of Death: Accident (Automobile Related)
Classmate City: West Palm Beach
Classmate State: FL
Classmate Country: USA
Survived By: His parents and Jaymie Shankman (sister), also a graduate of FHHS, Class of 87.

Charles tragically and unexpectedly passed away during the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 25, 2009. This sadly occurred just one day before Thanksgiving Day. Charles was helping a friend work on a mechanical problem with the friend's car. For whatever reason, the car accelerated forward, pinning Charles between the car and some other wall/barrier. Charles sustained internal injuries that resulted in his death, while en route to the hospital, about fifteen minutes after the accident occurred. For those of you that were fortunate enough to have known Charles, I probably do not need to say too much about what kind of person he was to others. For those that weren't fortunate to have known him, he was a special person that will surely be missed by many. He was a kind-hearted person that lived his life in a very unselfish way. He died doing what he probably did most of his life and that is being there and helping others in need. If others could pattern the way they live their lives, like Charles, this world would undoubtedly be a much better place. His kindness, sincerity, and just his overall genuineness as a person will be missed more than he'll ever know. As you know, Charles was planning on attending our upcoming reunion. I know that he was very much looking forward to it. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they try and cope with this tragic and unexpected loss. With Heavy Heart, John Prieschl

I am in shock. So sad to hear about this. I also remember him coming to the 20 year and him having a blast and I am sure he was looking forward to the 25th. Prayers and thoughts are with his family during this time. God Bless.
